Here’s what I bring to the table: almost 20 years as a professional writer, journalist and public relations pro. My specialty is web site content, copywriting, newsletters, press releases, and articles. But really when it comes to communications, with a little research, I can write or edit anything – from virtual reality and mass storage subsystems, to gastric bypass and the benefits of sunscreen.
I hold a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Brown University, and spent a year studying abroad at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. Still, as a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science in my hometown of New York City, I have an ongoing love of science.
This rich and diverse business background allows me to easily translate the most complex, jargon-laden text into easy-to-read consumer-friendly communications, or craft a press release that will catch the media’s eye.
All of this experience is put to use in creating sales-boosting text for my clients, and marketing communications focused on delivering your corporate message. I have expertise in conducting executive interviews, as well as extensive background research.
Whether it's a contributed articles program, advertising supplement, brochure or press release, talk to me I can make it work to meet your goals.
Where have I worked?
I spent several years on the in-house PR staff at Sun Microsystems, AT&T and Cisco Systems, and with the PR agency, Sterling Communications. Next up, 7 years as a medical journalist, first as a headline writer and senior writer, and then as an associate editor at the International Medical News Group, now a division of Elsevier. During that time, I covered everything from FDA advisory panel meetings to medical conferences. I also wrote monthly columns on mental illness and the arts, new product announcements, and results of physician surveys.
Google me! My work can be found in Clinical Psychiatry News, Family Practice News, Internal Medicine News, Pediatric News, and Skin and Allergy News, among others.
Currently I am the Mind, Body and Spirit columnist for the monthly magazine, Chesapeake Family, and a staff writer in communications at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.
